I write blogs from a differing perspective. They're a bit shorter than even I myself expect, but I only talk about what is interesting, and I only update when I have something good to say.
Try to affiliate a lot, but then again, tons of sites are extremely picky about who they want to affiliate - usually involving VERY good graphic skills or several hundred hits per day. Sad, because I only get approximately 20-40 unique visitors per day (more or less). I also just post my link around a lot, hence the signature!
