There has been a lot of debate and speculation on the forum about North Korea, their militaristic capabilities and their motives for political gain. I'd like to hear what members have to say about it, granted you've done some research.

We have the potential. I say "we" because my father's side is North Korean. We have the potential, and should be taken very, very, seriously. Although I feel our greatest threat for Americans in general is from the Arabic nations, North Korea should not be taken lightly.

North Korea isn't an immediate threat to America. Their main goal is recapture the peninsula, not eliminate the US, overall. Undoubtedly, they want to prevent US forces from advancing to Pyongyang and overthrowing KJI, and they want us to pull out of SoKo in order to make their mission a lot easier, but it won't happen. How seriously can you take a military that is as undermanned as they are? NoKo's ballistic missile warheads and chemical/biological warfare is solid, but with subpar equipment, they can easily be overrun by troops in the Joint Pacific Commands alone.

North Korea will scream and piss its pants because its hungry and try to do stuff to convince the world that they're relevant. NK will not last, Korea will reunite this century. I don't even think KJI has a real successor, like he was to his father.

One of the main tactics of the KJ's has been prolonged conflict. They want the stalemate, no matter how long it will take. It just gives NoKo time to strengthen their forces and deploy more troops closer to the DMZ. Bases are moving to caves and tunnels are being built. They are a threat, but mainly to SoKo.
