Why do you think baby boys are dressed in blue and baby girls in pink? Or that teenage girls lean towards red and boys to blue? Sure, this has been changing and many girls prefer blue over pink (me), but still...where did this even come from to begin with?
Gender and color QUOTE Researchers at Princeton University refer to this as the Pink Frilly Dress (PFD) phase. ![]() QUOTE When the color assignments among boys and girls did evolve in the '20s, the colors were reversed: pink was for boys and blue for girls. It wasn't until around the 1940s that the colors flip-flopped to the assignment we recognize today [source: The Guardian]. ![]() |

I thank goodness for this color distinction.
Me where I work: *sees mom with child, wearing white* "Awww!! What a cute baby boy!" Mom: "...her name is Jessica. But thank you." That reminds me of this picture: http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?image=k...girl0001iv9.jpg |
