Perhaps J.C. is hesitant to agree for compensation because donating organs involves surgery. If there was compensation involved, many poor people would undergo dangerous surgery just to get some money, and perhaps they would do this a bit too often. No, you may not NEED this one kidney, but it is quite nice to have it. Donating blood requires just a bit of your time, and if you're small, you might pass out, but it generally does not require too much of a hassle, and your body can recreate that lost blood. Donating hair is nothing; just go into the hair salon and cut it off, and again, you will naturally get it back. Donating organs is surgery -- it's dangerous, it requires recovery, it alters your own body.
