You can buy organs off the black market, illegally.
(after some research) But as far as legally getting an organ, you are put on the UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) waiting list, and your request is marked down to the very second (or even more granular than that, I think - it might be to the very half-second). Other factors that determine where you're placed on the list obviously depend on your condition and the amount of urgency there is to get you the organ you need before you die. The only thing you CAN be compensated for are the following: Plasma, platelets, and hair - oh and sperm. |
