Why do you think baby boys are dressed in blue and baby girls in pink? Or that teenage girls lean towards red and boys to blue? Sure, this has been changing and many girls prefer blue over pink (me), but still...where did this even come from to begin with?
Gender and color QUOTE Researchers at Princeton University refer to this as the Pink Frilly Dress (PFD) phase. ![]() QUOTE When the color assignments among boys and girls did evolve in the '20s, the colors were reversed: pink was for boys and blue for girls. It wasn't until around the 1940s that the colors flip-flopped to the assignment we recognize today [source: The Guardian]. ![]() |

i've never liked pink. or purple.
my parents said even when i was a little baby i would cry (i was a oober quiet child) if they even showed me pink or purple clothing. over the years, my favorite color has evolved from i-don't-know (because i thought i was weird since i was the only person ever to hate pink or purple, i didn't fit in!) to navy blue. gorgeous color, IMO. red has been one of my favorites since i actually started concentrating on colors. navy blue > red though. plus red is starting to get more popular. :[ |
