How do you think Fidel Castro's resignation will affect Cuba? Bush already said that the US will begin strengthening ties with the country and bring "democracy' to the table, but seriously, let's be realistic? Does anyone smell conflict or a military coup brewing?

according to bush it's gonna begin a period of democratic transition. he says we're gonna help the people of cuba realize the blessings of liberty.

i don't think that much is going to change as long as castro is still alive. everyone who has any say so or importance was put there by castro in the first place, i can't see them changing that much as long as he's still around.

his brother isn't officially in power is he? i thought no one was officially appointed yet, it's just likely that his brother will take over. which still, we've already has his brother running things for the last year or so. he does appear to be a bit more flexible though.
