I know the Books forum isn't the most popular forum around, but there are quite a few who frequent to discuss books they are reading or have read. I think it would be nice if CB catered to them to, since most other forums have their own clubs or competitions or something. We could have like a book a month...obviously this would require the participants to go out and buy the book, but one book a month really isn't that much and it would motivate us all to read more. _smile.gif And we could all take turns picking out books and discuss them after we all read them. If someone didn't want to read a book that someone picked out, they could still be in the club as long as they chose a different book for themselves to read. That's the only requirement: Everyone reads at least one book a month.

Yeah?

I LOVE THIS IDEA!

I've always wanted to join an official book club! I haven't read anyone else's responses, but it would be so cute if we made a chatroom once a week / month to discuss the book we read! And in discussions, we could each bring up questions that we thought of while reading the book to discuss!

We could cover poetry, short stories, long novels, classics, etc! *plans agenda*

READING POSSIBILITIES
Kate Chopin's The Awakening, Desiree's (sp?) Baby, The Storm
(I have enjoyed every piece I've read by Kate Chopin, especially the explicit content for her time period! shifty.gif)
Jaqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls (slightly girly, so I guess JC might not like it :/)
Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat (much preferable to the harder-to-read Interview With The Vampire, which I still enjoyed :P) compared to
Stephenie Meyer's Twilight (vampire discussion anybody?)
Nathaniel Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter (I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED THIS BOOK)
Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights (a sick, wonderful read)
V.C. Andrews' Flowers in the Attic (to discuss incest, solitude)
pieces by the transcendentalists
---Things I Haven't Read But Supposedly Have To
Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude
Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club
Dante's Inferno
