It seems like every couple years, the line between what's acceptable language and what isn't is pushed further and further. I remember when "Bitch" used to be such a forbidden word, in casual conversation as well as in the media.
Now you hear the word all over the tv, and the taboo word of the year is "c**t." When I hear that word, especially from women, I just get so disgusted. But it amazes me that we've even gone that far. |

Language is always evolving. I don't recall, "damnit" ever being a horrible thing to say, and I don't think all swear words should be blocked out. I mean, I don't know about the rest of you, but sometimes when I'm as angry as can be, "holy jellybeans" just doesn't express the amount that I feel as, "motherf**ker" might. I don't think it should be any different on television.
The problem with censorship is that people will always find new slang to use in place of, "bitch" or "a-hole." Just because no one's typing out those letters makes the meaning any less "offensive," as it were. It's a highly subjective thing. |
