Ever feel so guilty about something?

I am the only child and I usually get what I want. but..

Today I went and bought myself a mac. It was kind of a present from my mom and dad since they didnt give me a present for christmas this year. I was going to save up for it, but every time i got another paycheck it went towards my savinsg or paying off bills. But last year my parents gave me like the biggest present of all which was a car.

When i left my house today, my aunt was like.. "Did you give him money to buy that?" and my mom said no, so that it seemed like i bought it myself with my money. When she really did buy it for me.

Now that everybody knows that I bought a mac today, i feel like everybody has had something bad to say about it. I feel so guilty because I have gotten so much from my parents... fallen.gif I really am grateful about all they have given me and I do thank them so much. But it just seems like I have gotten everything through my parents and for that I feel guilty...

gotcha. that feeling can overwhelm me sometimes as well; i'm also an only child. money is actually tight for our family, but the thing is, most people can't tell. I'm enrolled in a private school, my parents drive spiffy cars, and we appear to have a good life. that's not the case, and at times I feel horrible that my dad is exchanging his life for literally, my future. He says his success and happiness is based off of mine, but sometimes that seems like bullshit. I feel as if I would never be able to repay my dad for what he's done, and it's difficult for me to accept that. The key thing though, is that you are completely aware of what is going on. You're not using your parents to get what you want, and you are in fact appreciative of what you are given, and that makes all the difference. I don't have a job yet, so although my "saved up" money is technically still from my parents, I know whether I buy them a gift, or show my appreciation in any other way, they will be extremely happy.
