Okay. So I'm a a freshman right now. I've gone with my club to do some community service, and some other stuff. But I'm a bit confused about some things.
One, Does the club record how many hours you've done, or should you do it yourself? Two, if I choose to do community service on my own, how should I record it? Should I just get a piece of lined paper, write down how many hours I've done, and just get my supervisor to sign it or something? Okay. One more question. When you're a senior, and you're going to apply for a college, will your community service hours appear on your transcript, or no? How are you supposed to get in your OWN hours that you've done, so that it adds up to your transcript? Sorry for so many questions. I'm just so confused. =/ Any help is appreciated! |

Regarding applications, there's the resume and the "Activities" section, where you'll be stating the volunteer event/organization, number of hours you spent during the event/with the organization, and a brief description.
With that, it's a LOT better to join an organization for your volunteer stuff on your own. It shows commitment (kudos for starting this as a freshman!), and colleges love that. Another plus about joining an organization is that they only let you put so many activities on the application itself, so you won't have space to put random, once-ever volunteer events. |
