So, my mom is REALLY strict with me for I don't know why. Basically, since I stopped going to church, she doesn't trust me at all. This up-coming Friday is a school dance at my former school and my boyfriend is taking me. Obviously, my mom now knows about him, but she treats me like I'm five. Last night, I went to the mall with friends. She yelled at me saying my boyfriend isn't suppose to be there, but he didn't show up because he went elsewhere [loser]. And, she wants to take me to the place where the dance is being held. But, what about the whole lots and llots of pictures and putting on the corsage for the girl when the guy comes over? She sacts like my only friends are only girls. OBVIOUSLY, at the age of SIXTEEN, I have male friends, too.

What do I do?

While long talks might not necessarily change your mother's mind because, let's face it, she's your mother, and even at SIXTEEN, you can get pregnant/STDs/naive to boy pressures, and all of the worries that a mother should have. If you can get through to her, then by all means, kudos to you.

However, I had a friend who, at SIXTEEN, had a mom who was as strict as yours, and you know what my friend did? She sucked it up. You're going to go off to college soon, so what's the big deal about not being able to have your boyfriend put a flower on your wrist? There are worse things in life.
