I'm Going to Baghdad!, ...and I'm really excited about it. Options

On August 26th, no later than 2359, I am required to report into the Marine Corps' Central Command on MacDill Air Force Base, for transport to Baghdad, to fulfill the requirements essential to mission accomplishment on a 7 month deployment to Iraq.

I don't give two shits about politics, although I've been briefed on a good amount. I see dollar signs with this deployment. 20 grand. SUGOI!!!

And to make it even better, I'm going to fill an individual augment billet, not sure what I'll be doing yet. I'm probably going to be filling a security slot, which (I've been told) is pretty fun.

Damn, I'm excited.

The training begins in March, and I'll get to take about 45 days of leave (vacation) before I head to Tampa for check in.

Thanks mom. Do me a favor though, don't rearrange anything in my room. I know I moved out 3 years ago, but its still my room when I go home on leave. Oh, and I really hope you didn't find that shoe-box in my closet hidden underneath those old basketball trophies.

Given that my time on this island will be up, and since I don't plan on re-enlisting to be a drill instructor anymore, I'm probably just going to use the cash to pay off the little debt I have, save the rest, and fix up my Caprice. I might drop a couple g's on gear, though. hehe
