Striking up a conversation, my friend brought up MTV. We talked about how much MTV has strayed away from what it was originally intended for - music television. One would think that MTV would show music videos, non-stop, 24/7. In reality, music videos are a very small portion of MTV. The music video segment probably lasts only about an hour then the programming changes to numerous worthless reality television shows, especially the dating shows. At this rate, watching the channels scroll up on the television guide channel is more entertaining.
What do you think of MTV and its programming? |

Marketing has increasingly dumbed down their shit as younger people grow older. That is to say, people in their pre-teens are now maturing faster than any other generation; wearing more makeup, being more absorbed into how they look, and how they wish their lives were like those on reality television, or something. MTV and the rest of it all have to target their mass audience, and that is likely the younger kids.
I've never been into television, but "cool" and trends all have to change over time, that includes when we all say "back in the day, it was better. . ." because it's not something that can be controlled. |
