What is this suppose to be for? A banner? Background? It seems to me more like a background.

IMO, I like the first one better. Also, I like the 2nd color tones but I don't like it.

The 2nd one just seems you stamp this and that which is very bland. It slightly looks like a texture usage though. xD

TBH, if you really want to make it work with this "theme" or whatever, you should add stuff to it (if its a banner) like maybe a stock image of the theme, or something. Brushes everywhere is kind of amateur. o.O If simple, then I guess it works. But hey, just my two cents.

oh, i deleted that part-it's the "banner" for a DIV, i guess i should put that back in. i wanted something without text or anything too complex yet a modern and kind of hip look without being too teenage-ish. it's mostly just supposed to look like a texture...the only thing that's going to be added is possibly transparent-ish boxes for the DIV's, but i may just make it all a small box and put everything in one div. i'm not sure yet. i just wanted really simple and too the point. maybe not the best way to do it? i dunno, i've had major artist block and such the past few months, so i'm really not sure where to go with any of this.
