Uploading and Image Quality, image quality on computer vs quality on CB Options

Hopefully this is in the correct place. I don't post much, but thought I needed to ask...

I save most of my images in png format b/c I usually hate jpgs- the png's quality is better...however, whenever I submit images to CB (primarily icons) the images look completely different than how they look on my computer.

This never used to happen, but my past few images have been rejected for poor quality AND I deleted one of my own submissions when it was accepted because the quality of the images was terrible and, again, looked nothing like the icon I had made. (Also, I want to mention that the 'preview' option does not work for me *shrug*)

So, what is a good format to save images in for submissions/ a good format that will retain the quality when I submit it?

Make sure that when you save it as a jpeg, you make sure that the compression rate is low so that the image quality is higher.

Or, you could save it as a .png - that saves a really high file quality. It's odd that you've done that and it still doesn't work. Have you tried uploading those images to imageshack.us and see what happens?

I almost always save my files as pngs - they look fine when I upload them to sites like photobucket and such, but when I upload them here they look just awful!
It perplexed me as well.
