Pen Tool is ultimately the best; create a clipping path, select your path, then select the inverse, and simply hit delete, and it's done. If you've never used the Pen Tool before, you'll want to play around with for a second before you do anything; I agree that the Magic Wand and Magnetic Lasso are fine, but they'll leave you with a very jagged edge, while the Pen Tool will not.
