Never underestimate what physical equipment can do, mind you. If you are taking your own pictures, these effects are reasonably easy to accomplish by means of hardware -- flashes and diffusers.
The first would be a direct flash with high saturation. This would more or less accomplish the effect; otherwise, I'd say it's a layer mask wherein the background has been darkened, some, to bring more contrast for the subject. The second one, to get the lowered level of saturation and exposure, I am thinking the creator used a low-opacity green-gray layer, or something along these lines. Something to kind of mute the vibrance, and such. An duplicate + layer mask (overlay) could easily accomplish this effect. As far as hardware, it just looks like bad lighting and a cheap camera. The third is either a duplicated original with altered blending options, or simply increased exposure and saturation. Are you taking your own pictures, or working with what you already have for this endeavor? |
