The effects vary from picture to picture, depending on what looks good and what is already provided to you. I'm sorry I can't give you a step-by-step solution or a link, but I'm sure there are tutorials out there for Photoshop about these things.
I know a lot of icon makers use these effects and it's turned out very well, so maybe you could contact one of them through LiveJournal. My guess would be that they played around with exposure settings, brightness/contrast, layer adjustments, and perhaps a few brushes to spruce it up. |
