I like to think that everyone wears some some of adornment, or carries something with them, that means something special to them.

I've found it to be pretty accurate with most people so I was wondering what it is that you wear specially or symbolically?

Mine would be my Claddagh ring. My boyfriend bought me it before we went to separate universities as a sort of 'reminder as to the other ring he'll buy me after our courses finish'. Needless to say, it's my most prized piece of jewelry I own.

So what, if anything, do you own?

I have a gold ring with tiny tiny diamonds on it. I've had the ring since I was 10 & it was passed down to me & was originally owned by my grandmother who passed away before I was born because of cancer. Ever since then I've worn it on my index finger on my left hand 24/7, so it's permanently imprinted on my finger. Like...if you remove the ring, you can see the outline of it on my index.

About 2 & a half years ago the ring broke, I think I accidentally hit a wall when I was asleep or something in the middle of the night. I woke up & found the whole front part of it broken with the tiny diamonds all over my bed. Luckily I was able to find all of them. I never got around to taking it to my jeweler's to get fixed so for about 6 months or so I basically had that imprint on my index finger.

On Christmas 2005 my boyfriend ended up doing the whole corny "I love you" thing while we were up in Mammoth. Surprisingly his other Christmas gifts to me were a gold necklace w/a diamond pendant & my grandmother's ring, all fixed & everything. I was totally floored since I didn't have a clue he had it & my parents to this day don't know we're dating & are all "no boys in this house", so it was kinda impossible for him to get ahold of it.

So yeah, long story short...the ring is an heirloom & a promise ring at the same time _smile.gif

Edit: I didn't realize the story was this long. Sorry pinch.gif
