i think it's more common now.
all the second borns in my family have eczema and i have a few friends who have it too or someone in their family does. i've had it since i was born. it was terrible when i was little but i didn't have it too severely. i've kind of grew out of it. but in the fall/winter my skin breaks out. it sucks cause it's really apparent on my face. my body does not have it except my inner elbows and knuckles (which sucks, i can't wear rings, because it would then draw attention to it) for my face, i literally moisturize constantly in the winter! and i can't wear make up to hide it either since my skin will like flake and appear even more dry. so i just bear it. ![]() i did use this one prescription ointment, i forgot what it's called but i've stopped for now. it bleached parts of my face and now i have these weird blotches. my doctor just told me to wait the winter out. i was wondering if anyone else has it here too? when was it worst for you? what was it like in your childhood? what is it like now? how do you treat unexpected breakouts? doesn't the winter just suck? what lotions/creams/prescription ointments do you use? |

Eczema f**king sucks. I had it as a kid, fairly badly I think. Now I get it on random occasions, like when I was in marching band, after bending my arms for hours in the heat I'd end up with really bad rashes in my elbows. Most of the time it's just dry itchiness in the winter. I've been on Acutane for the past few months, and since that dries out your skin, it's been bringing out my eczema pretty badly too. Mainly on my elbows still, but I've gotten it in all sorts of odd places lately. Typically I treat it with some steroid ointment I got a prescription for a while back, and I was supposed to get another steroid cream of some sort too, but I didn't bother because it didn't seem worth spending my money on.
