Does anyone know a good place to go to get the word out about a website? I just recently developed a site and would like to get the word out to as many people as fast as I can but have no ideas of how to go about it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Well you've started well by introducing this thread; but at the moment I'm resisting insatiable curiousity by deliberately not clicking your link XD

I started a forum several years ago and found the best way to get the word out about my sites was to contact other sites with similar content and get affiliates or banner swaps going. Once you start getting the word out, you'll get more and more hits. Just be sure to keep your site updated as this lures your visitors back again.

That and making sure every other forum I went on knew I owned a site by pasting it in my sig. Haha.

or if your awesome like I am you can simply have 4000+ members within a week :D of course I've been <snip> back to the topic whistling.gif

hmm "Word of Mouth" is the best way to promote ANYTHING be it politics, a sale going on at Touchi's Cafe or in this case the induction of a website? (word of text thingy :P) ... If you really want to get your site known your going to have to dedicated night and day for 3 years straight to promote it... okay maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration... but like S-Majere stated... "Once you start getting the word out...be sure to keep your site updated." Running a community (successful one) takes lots of time and dedication (no blood hopefully)

IVIike suggested Adwords... but thats only good if your willing to put down cash... yet you can still make good use of/or take advantage of google by maintaining good SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques... google = good seo search engine optimize :P
