So yea me and my best friend are walking in the mall to check out the new sidekicks and blackberry curve and we come across this BUBBLE TEA STAND??? like we have a population of .07 asians where i live. i mean there is an asian central like 10 miles away but still its shocking...
So we buy some delicious bubble tea, but the stand was horrendous, the sign was crappy and it was like in a weird position. it was like infront of a radio shack but not in the center of the court, more like to the left. where is bubble tea from anyways? is it chinese or korean? |

OH MY GOD. Yesterday some guy was going into my dorm in front of me carrying two bubble teas, so I got excited and asked him if they were selling them by the student center again. He said yeah, humored me, and then asked if I knew what it was. I was inclined to be a little bit insulted, because just because most of the other white kids here (i.e. most everyone) are culturally unaware, it doesn't mean I am. So then I went to go get some and the girls from the Asian sorority or whatever started explaining to me what it was, then were astonished when I'd had it before. It was pretty annoying. Sure, we're in Georgia. Yeah, UGA's Asian population makes up only 7% (and that seems generous), and I bet Athens' is even lower. That's why they sell bubble tea occasionally, because they don't anywhere else in the area. But I definitely know what it is, because a) a lot of my high school friends were Asian (actually, I realized after while they were making my tea that I knew one of the girls selling it), b) I use the internet, and c) I'm not completely ignorant.
So yeah. I guess I'm just not Asian enough ![]() |
