In my AP Drawing class (the best in Texas, actually), I have been working on an art project designed by the famous Chuck Close where you draw realistic portraits using only red, blue, and yellow Prismacolor pencils! I thought it sounded incredibly difficult, but it's actually quite fun, and I love the effect it has.
![]() After maybe 3 days of work? Yay, you can see my colored pencils that are about 2/3 the length that appears in the picture. ![]() What I have finished by today. The shots are very grainy D: (they look much more smooth in real life, I promise. :P) They are due next Thursday, but I'm a fast worker. :] Oh, and here's the original image, if you wanted to see it ![]() |

I've seen a video about Chuck Close in my art appreciation class. His paintings are stunningly realistic looking when looked afar but once you get close you see circles of different colors and patterns. It's shocking how different it looks up close. His technique for painting portraits must be hard to master and for that I applaud you for your efforts. Your picture looks gorgeously realistic. I'd like to see a finished product if ever you get around to posting it.
