Random words in icons, banners, layouts, etc Options

I don't want to point anyone out, because well, I've done it too. BUT, do you ever find yourself laughing at those one word phrases people put on icons, banners, layouts and such? I was just looking through some icons and found myself giggling uncontrollably.

I think there's this idea that an icon isn't as good without text. I know I've fallen victim to that school of thought, hence the hideous "one words" I've put on icons before.

It's the same with layouts. Sometimes people will think up the most ill-fitting titles or phrases and stick it on a banner image.

I always like to go on a thesaurus,think of what the image means or is likely to mean and go through some word variations.

But yeah, I've seen some icon-beauties.

Oh my God, it takes me like an hour to come up with titles. And even then they're not that great!

I really hate it when people use the word "vintage" in their layouts, icons, tutorials...ANYTHING. It's such an overused word. I don't take it to mean anything anymore...oh, that tutorial says "vintage", it must be some trendy thing the kids are all doing now. How completely ironic.

I'm going to turn out to be one of those neurotic old women, I swear.
