I don't eat dog or cat meat, but I know for a fact that it is normal in other cultures. Why is it so horrible for dogs/cats to be killed for meat, if cows and lambs are regularly killed for food (but aren't as big of a deal as cats/dogs)? Is it because they are seen as domesticated animals?

go on.

Domesticated or not, animals feel pain the same way. However, cultural norms dictate what should be food and what shouldn't be food.

No, rather, it's because of culture =). That, and personal preference, I think.
