Another con - time frame
Sometimes you end up paying for a warranty that might not last long, but there's no other option. Take for instance (ALTHOUGH THIS IS FREE) - Microsoft's xbox 360. My boyfriend got his xbox 360 2 years ago on launch day. It lasted a year. The warranty on it was only for a year -- before Microsoft decided on an extended 3 year warranty. So yea, sometime around maybe April, it crashed. We ended up getting another one (from Costco - lifetime warranty, yo!) so that he could play Halo 3 Beta. And finally, in July, Microsoft announces their extended warranty from 1 year to 3 years. We just sold the dead 360 to someone else. So you see, fortunately that warranty was extended. What if it hadn't? And this warranty was free, anyway... So maybe it's not really important... BUT if you had to pay to insure it for only a year, that would suck if it died shortly after a year. Wouldn't it? |
