I was waiting at the soup kitchen one morning. It was a brisk morning and I hadn't eaten in days. I was a hungry feller. I had waited my turn for about 2 hours in my rags with temperature dropping into the teens. Luckily I was kept warm by the surrounding folk all waiting with the same goal in mind, a half full stomach. Eventually I made it into the shelter. The shelter was home to an award winning dancing team, and they were letting charities use it to serve soup. I was served with a cup of chicken noodle soup and instructed to either go home or go to the back of the line. As I was passing by the seemingly endless line, I was tripped by a known trouble maker. I didn't exactly have the cleanest record myself, and that wasn't without reason. I had grown up in the slums and I didn't take shit from no body, no way in hell. I wasn't about to let some jackass trip me unprovoked. I made a speedy recovery and was back on my feet. All of a sudden, from outside, a man in the back said everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz. Fists were flying everywhere, and you better believe soup was being spilled. I eliminated my aggressor and got out of that clusterf**k. From that day forward I didn't take shit from nobody, not even the imaginary character Jesus.
