ok...here goes nothing.
i'm making an image-it's one layer-that has been filled with black set at 43% transparency. myspace be hatin' ( laugh.gif ) on psd's...so i saved for web>image only as a GIF...when i upload it, it's completely transparent. is there another way i can save it so the black is still transparent?

Screenshot if possible? And include the layer palette.

But I think I get what you're saying. If you want to put transparency over an image (or whatever else) on your layout, making an image that has a low opacity won't do that, even if you save it as a .gif or .png, both of which allow transparencies. You'd have to use a code filter for that. Let's see if I can find it. I remember it being Javascript and if I'm right, then you can't do it because MySpace doesn't allow Javascript.
