Okay, I am sorry, I do not know if this is right spot, or if there are threads to answer my questions. I am new, new to here and graphic designing, making layouts, everything.
Ive always wanted to be good with the computer, making graphics, and making my own layouts. But I don't know where to start, I don't have even a tiny knowledge of any of it. Is there any good [cheap] programs, and guides to learning how to make good graphics, and layouts? Explaining how to make them step by step? If you can help, I would greatly be glad. |

It takes a LONG time to learn this stuff; a lot of us are kind of self-taught. Get some books, enroll in a summer class (i know bigger cities have things like that)...just take your time. I'd suggest downloading GIMP, and once you've gotten good enough with that, download a free trial of Photoshop...then just go from there. Just whatever you do, sit down for at least an hour every day and mess with something-whether it be reading a chapter in a HTML book, or making something on GIMP. I'd really also suggest just looking through layout codes and such every now and then, just to see if you can understand anything.
But definitely get some web design books-HTML, CSS...-a lot of libraries are starting to carry a bigger selection of them, so they can't be hard to find. And most of all, be patient. Eventually, things will just come to you. If you're generally not a creative person, then getting used to it all will take longer. Also, after a while, get a simple layout code and, with the maker's permission of course, mess around with some colors, pictures, and stuff, and just see what comes out. Good luck. Feel free to PM me if you want any suggestions, help...whatever. |
