Is there any way to get rid of them?
 ^ Those, at the end of my page, that extend all the way outwards. If they can't be removed, then is there a way to leave the copyright visible, but make the white background OF the copyright transparent? |

I re-read your question and it seems like you want the white, but not the lines that continue off of it.
I don't think there is a way to do that, you need one or the other
