If you are a parent and your son is leaving to live by himself, what would you say to him?
What if it was a daughter? Would there be a difference to what you would say to her? |

I guess it depends on how old they are. I know my mom doesn't want me to leave, but she depends on me too much. She doesn't drive, so I take her where she needs to go. I know it'll be hard on her. As for my dad I know he won't mind having me around, I hardly ever see him anyways.
In my opinion, it's going to be an adjustment for both the parent and the child, so their parents shouldn't try the whole "Oh I'll miss you. I know you'll get homesick. You better visit a lot" deal, because it makes it harder on both of them. Just be confident in what you've taught them that they'll make it on their own and let them know that you're always there to help them out, esspecially with finacial things, like making sure they pay their bills and doing their taxes on their own. |
