Do you ever have a moment when you feel physically ugly? You see these magazines full of attractive models, and then compare yourself. You wished you were good-looking as them. All of the sudden, the mirror was pulled out with your hand, looking at yourself, and wondering which features you want to alter … or maybe things you desire. At the same time, there's a sad droopy face in that mirror which ... looks even worse.


How do you feel about it? The world is full of media attention. Plastic surgeries are on the rise. Male are increasingly noticeable in the surgeon's office. Fashionable women and men are competing for the jobs with their looks. Image is everything and plays a huge role in being hired. Imagine the shallowness of this crazy world can be …

There's so much pressure to be thin, tall, pretty/handsome, physically proportionate, etc. It's as if anything can be bought with money nowadays. Yea I feel the pressure and very ugly in other people's eyes. But I say that as in my image of myself. I don't constantly tell people I think I'm ugly, etc. I hate when people say they're fugly and blah blah blah and they're so pretty. It's as if they're fishing for compliments.

As much as I agree with that, it's not always the case. I have so much pressure to lose weight. And I hate it, absolutely HATE it when I'm in the U.S. and people keep telling me that I shouldn't be on a diet. Because they don't understand that ultimately, I will return to Asia where girls there are naturally so much skinnier than I am. I tell people that I'm on a diet not to fish for compliments, because I really do feel bad about the way I look.

That is exactly how I feel! I feel like crap when I go to Hong Kong every year. I don't think I'm fat, but I know that I'm not skinny...in North America I feel pretty normal. When I go to Hong Kong, though, all the girls are so skinny! It makes me self-conscious.

My mom likes to make me feel better by telling me that I have boobs, and they don't. So that brings my spirits up a bit, haha.
