How Do People, Not Realize They Are Idiots? Options

This is a question that's been bothering me for some time. How come stupid people do not realize how incredibly stupid they are. In fact, some stupid people actually think they are smarter than the less-stupid people. I'll be the first to admit it, I have my stupid moments. But I recognize when I'm acting like a retard, these people are completely oblivious to the fact that people are laughing at how dumb they are.

The question I'm opening for debate is "What makes a stupid person think they are smart?" Is it the over doting of an affectionate, but rather misguided parent? Is it the lack of friends or social activities which makes the stupid person believe themself superior? I would like constructive opinions on this and hopefully we, as a community, can better understand the mind of a stupid person (Nate).

I write to you with a gay feeling in my heart for I know that I have the answer to your question. When you refer to someone as "stupid" it causes me ask myself what group of people you're referring to. When you use the phrase "stupid people" I don't think you're referring to people who realize that they know very little. While these people are stupid in the sense that they know very little, they aren't ignorant to the fact that they know very little and acting like they are intelligent. Instead this type of stupid person strives for more knowledge because they want to be intelligent.

You're talking about people who are stupid and wallow in their own ignorance by acting as if their shit does not stink. They swim in their own pool of despair drowning themselves in a mix of warm urine water and a hope that people will not look behind the thin walls that they have built to give off a glow of intelligence.

Anyway, these people act intelligent because they are seeking approval from their peers. It's an false ideology that says, "If I act intelligent then people will think I'm intelligent, and if people think I'm intelligent than I will feel and be intelligent." People who are seeking approval from their peers obviously do not want to be embarrassed by them.

This type of person generally caters to individuals who are either less intelligent than they are(because they can impress) or of equal intelligence(because people who are more intelligent than they are will easily steal the spotlight). The only thing that keeps them from becoming friends with someone who is more intelligent is fear. Fear of loosing self-worth, credibility, recognition, or acceptance. Hanging out with someone who is more intelligent will force them to submit. So, instead of submitting they bully people who are more intelligent to make them look stupid.

My conclusion, you are wrong when you say that these people don't realize it. These people do realize they are stupid but aren't willing to openly admit it because they are afraid.
