There are flowers on the corner for a guy named Zach.
No one I know, knew, just a guy from school Wonder what happened, wonder why, Wonder what happened, means he's not coming back. If his future wife cried at his funeral, Or if she was someone left to come Something finished, unbegun. Or were his kisses left for boys alone? They don't matter now, cause tonight he's not at home. Was he high, drunk? Lost on shitty luck? Last minute laughing, died with just a 'f**k?' Zach's a body now. Cold in a churchyard, off the stage, final bow. The flowers on the corner will be faded next week. Spirit of them gone, to somewhere else, another street. Zach's a body now, one I didn't know And won't, because the flowers will be gone. Won't remember, 10 years on. When my friends are back in town, When we laugh, joke, fight, scowl, Zach will be a body, one people only knew, can't know, anymore. Go to the churchyard, see the latest soil, and the mothers' love. For the sons they only knew, but don't know. Did I marry his future wife, love his future son? Were they ever his, if they don't know Zach? The body, the guy from school, Lover, prince, hero, fool? Zach's a body, and the flowers blew away. |

No... I wrote it when I drove past one of those displays people leave at the scene of a car crash the other day... It's not about anyone specific.
