Well my mom plans on purchasing me a laptop for college, so I don't know what kind I should get. I want a Microsoft, but I want a Macintosh but I don't know how to use them and I've never used one before. Like when I need to type a report, I wouldn't know where to find the program and I wouldn't know what program to use. I found this used iBook online, but I don't know whether the iBooks are still good or not. What do you all recommend as far as laptops?

Not that there's anything wrong with an iBook, it's just that they're out of date. You might want to try to find a used/refurbished MacBook. And Macs are fairly easy to use, IMO. You just kinda...turn it on and go, like with any computer.

PS - I love my MacBook.

PPS - OH! Since you're into graphics and stuff, Macs are kind of the industry standard.

PPPS - And if getting used to a Mac OS is too hard for you to handle you can get Windows installed on it.

PPPPS - Macs are more virus resistant than PCs. Just saying.

They aren't the industry standard. Artsy people use them because they don't know enough about windows to operate it correctly... meaning... if you buy a MacBook you would have to be an idiot not to figure it out. These things are so user friendly is pathetic. Everything on MacBook is so self explanatory it's stupid.

You can have windows installed on it, but if you can't figure out the MAC OS you should probably kill yourself because you're an idiot. The only reason you should repartition your HDD and install windows on your MacBook is to use applications that aren't available for Mac OS X.

Macs are NOT more virus resistant. Computers with the Mac OS just aren't as popular as computers with Windows OS installed. Hackers want to deal DMG to the computer world. Why create a virus that would infect Macintosh computers when you can do more DMG creating a virus for Windows PC's. It would be a waste of time for hackers to beat down on MACs because PCs are so much more popular. They arn't virus resistant, they're a waste of time for hackers and creators of a virus.

I don't recommend against getting a MacBook, but I feel like you should know the facts. Truth is, you can do just as much and more with a Windows PC. I have a few Macs here at my company. Macs tend to have less options and break less (this is why I say they are easier to use/they are more user friendly), but PCs have more options this gives you more room to fuck up.
