i'm a freshman in high school, and the guy i like is a junior. he's really nice to me and every time i see him, he gives me really long hugs. Also, he gives me his jacket a lot. well, last night, i found out from my friend [whose also his friend] that theres apparently rumors we're going out. he hasn't officially asked me to go out, so i was just wondering if there's a point where two people become a couple without actually saying the words "will you go out with me?"

Like others said.. You have to talk to him about it. I was in a similar situation this past year actually. Everyone thought my friend & I were going out but we weren't. We both kind of liked each other but we both knew we weren't dating and that we didn't want relationships so we talked about it and were able to tell people what the real situation was.

Your situation could be very different but it's best to find out what his feelings are before you go around telling people that yes you're going out with him.
