A/W 2007, what's in? Options

It's getting close to September, which means we have to start getting out our fall/winter clothing. So what's in for you this fall/winter? With the A/W 2007 season over by...May? These are the styles that are going to be in.

1) Cocooning, or Cocoon-shaped Fashion


so the loose shapes and tunics are still in! :D

2) Lingerie, or the Exposed Bra


bring out your bustiers and corsets!

3) The Bold Shoulder


please no shoulder pads!

4) Diamonds!, actually, Quilting


kinda old lady? i'm not too sure.

5) Ombré, the shading


some of it's quite nice, but it reminds me of tiedye.

6) Plaid


loves it! except for the chanel boots.

7) Moiré, the pattern



8) Fur


but of course, what kind of collection is an A/W collection if it doesn't have fur??


so what do you all think about the what's in on runway compared to what's in your A/W wardrobe?

I am just a little obsessed with ombre right now. Prada's come out with a bunch of ombre'd bags and shoes (which you either love or hate), and for the most part I love it. The dress Snejana that is wearing is gorgeous!

I think people get way too caught up in the 'ugly' stuff, stuff that isn't wearable, when we have to remember that runway fashion sometimes isn't wearable at all. Fashion is art. Art is sometimes abstract...you have to take that abstract idea and translate it into something that you can understand, or in this case, something that you can wear. I like to think of runway fashion as a caricature; the most prominent and important details are exaggerated. Like:

I would never wear that exact coat. But I love the idea of an oversized, baggy coat with a wide, oversized lapel. And in real life, you could definitely pull it off. On the runway, everything is exaggerated to make a point, to create art. Haute couture might seem far-fetched and hard to pull off, but it's most certainly relevant to everyday fashion.
