possible wireless solution, ??? Options

so im facing a delema here. i have a 20 gig playstation three that is in another room than where my pc is located. i want to get my playstation 3 online so of course i need to be thinking wireless.

now the only way to do this with a 20 gig version is to get a wireless router for the pc and a wireless bridge for the ps3 to pick it up.
however this will most likely cost me close to 100$.

so i was thinking theres got to be a "wireless ethernet cord". as in a ethernet cord without the cord and just the inputs with an antenna or something.
so i was wondering if anyone knows of something like that and/or another cheaper solution.

i made a picture on the wonderful microsoft paint just in case i didnt describe what im thinking well enough.

I'm in networking... I'm a networking and desktop support specialist at a CPA firm. Take it from me... I'm a professional. You can't do that. Who ever made that device would be wasting their time because:

1. it would need its own encryption method so people couldn't listen in on the packets being passed through the air.

2. Since it would only work with the other end of that wire, it would probably require some unique key code for each pair of ends placed out on the market.

3. People wouldn't use this when they can spend just a few dollars more to connect everyone to one centrally administered hub with security features and encryption built in. Especially when over laptop comes with a card built into itself, and wireless desktop cards are as cheap as $14. The only market they would have are the video game owners...

If you have a cable modem. Why don't you just:

Connect your PS3 for $5-$10:
1. place it in the room with your PS3
2. buy a cable splitter so you can still attach the cable to the TV($5-$10) and the cable modem.
3. connect your PS3 to the back of the cable modem using Cat5 or Cat6 cable.


Connect your PS3 and multiple PC's for an extra $40-$60:
4. If you have a PC that needs to be connected, buy a wireless modem for $30-$40 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127079)
5. connect the cable modem to the WAN port on your wireless router using an Cat6 or Cat5 Ethernet cable.
6. buy and install a wireless PCI card in your PC. They cost about $10-$20 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16839121008) They're super easy to install. You don't need the geek squad.
7. connect your PS3 to the switch ports on the back of the wireless router.

Done, Easy as pie. This solution is more reliable than your wireless bridge, and much cheaper too. A wired connection can cause lag at times... :P With this setup you can still be wired without having them running all throughout the house.
