scratch disk is full???, what does that mean??

i was working on my next layout on photoshop and it say scratch disks are full when i was resizing a layer.
what does "scrath disks are full" means???

I use to have this problem all the time.
My suggestions would be:
1. Get a bigger hard drive.
2. Uninstall Photoshop. At one point it will ask if you're going to install it again or on a different computer. MAKE SURE you choose the option that says you're going to install it on your current computer again. Don't forget to save any and all custom brushes, gradients, patterns, and so on.
3. There is a temp file on your computer somewhere where your photoshop history is saved. If you can find it, go ahead and delete it. It has a common name, but I can't remember it. Don't worry if you can't find it-I looked for it for weeks and never found it.
