The list is based on something that doesn't have a lot of substance behind it. It's the # of AP exams taken by the school's students divided by the number of graduating seniors. It says nothing about how the students did nor does it pay attention to which grade took the most. So you can have a school where there were many tests taken but everyone got 2s and 3s or a school with a really smart junior class while the graduating seniors that year were dumb. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18784620/site/newsweek/ NEWSWEEK excluded these high performers from the list of America’s Best High Schools because so many of their students score well above the average on the SAT and ACT.
