as you can see, hip hop didn't start out with "laffy taffy" and "snapping your fingers, doing your 2-step" ... Hip Hop isn't just hoes, money and drugs.... it's political, real, violent, hardcore, full of truth and the soundtrack to so many ppl's lives...Rappers shouldn't be disrespected, they should be look upon to. To understand how they struggled back in the day, understand what they fought through, understand their pain, understand the meaning in the lyrics with all your heart, and understand what they do and how they live. it's like experiencing new things through lyrics like if you went out and discovered some new interesting shit. if you don't understand it or can't relate to it, fine, but don't disrespect that art form... I dont understand Country music at all but believe me, I dont disrespect it in any way shape or form... I dont mind Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Tim Mcgraw or Brooks and Dunn.. but I never listen to Country music on my own.... but I don't hate on Country ever...but I'd rather turn down country and choose hip hop music cuz the music is stronger. you guys feel me? the truth is, everybody talks about violence in Hip Hop, the government calls out Hip Hop for violence and degrading women, but are the same losers trying to fight a war over NOTHING!!! and they say nothing about the things that kids can see in a movie or on TV, they single out and blame Hip Hop for violence, but I have seen Horror Movies with more blood and actual violence than any rap song can describe... get the fuk outta here with that Hip Hop is bad crap... Hip Hop is an art form!!!! i'm an asian that supports hip hop to the fullest!!!! got complaints??? post 'em here or support it with me!!!

How can you be advocating hip hop and telling people not to look down on it, and then say such stupid crap about country?

Instead of going on and on about how theres story in hip hop, and pain and strife, as if other genres of music dont have that, why dont you actually talk about the history of hip hop, and where its roots come from. I haven't read one thing in your posts that actually educates us about hip hop.

You dont think other genres of music have pain and suffering in them? You dont think there are politics in other genres? Excuse me. What about Rock? Jazz? The Blues? R&B?

If a song in ANY genre isnt about love, its about two things:
Pain and suffering, or politics. Unless of course you count the %60 of the current generations hip hop that just talks about hoes and how much money you got, and shooting people in the street. Hip hop is quite possibly the ONLY genre of music that has such a huge percentage of songs about violence and sex and vulgarity.

Now dont get me wrong. I am a hip hop enthusiast. I listen to mostly hip hop. This generations hip hop? No. OLD SCHOOL? Yes. f**k Yes. I'm talking about the early 90's.

Hip hop is quite possibly the ONLY genre of music that has such a huge percentage of songs about violence and sex and vulgarity.

Don't forget about Metal. Matel talks about sex and drugs and partying all night and women and satanism (rap music don't talk about satanism) and violence too.

In rap music. The talking about violence and women has died down since maybe 4 years ago. I should know, I'm a hard core hip hop listener and I listen to the rap music NOW. Yes there is a couple songs about women. But most songs now is talking about relationships and dances (i.e The Aunt jackie, The Superman, Dutty Wine, Heel Toe, 1,2 step, Chicken Noodle Soup, etc, etc).
