I voted for emo, because some of my favorite bands are that (Saves The Day, Moneen, Further Seems Forever, The Early November, Dead Poetic [their songs have emo lyrics! Hell, tons of none "emo" songs have emo lyrics.] & Brand New).
If someone put indie as an option in there, I'd rather pick that. It's different hence the name "independent." Some indie bands are (well, I think they're indie): Aria Decline, Broken Social Scene, Cursive, Mae, Modest Mouse, & The Postal Service. Oh and whatever the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol, IMA Robot, Stellastarr*, Elefant, The Libertines, The Jealous Sound, & The Von Bondies are, I'd vote for that too.
