I notice that most people are followers when it comes to wearing cloths or talking a certain way...to the way you eat...to how you make your bed...for some reason it seems like people look at trend setters and mimic many things about them...why is this?...do trend setters have such a big influence that we all just tend to follow sub consciously without knowing?
I want your input in this matter. To better understand the population of the younger generation of today. Because it baffles me how much like sheep we all really are. ![]() ![]() |

Sadly... the trends of today with these children is wearing skanky clothes, baggy clothes. Name brand clothes, no matter how much their parents have to suffer to come up with the money for their kids clothing. On top of that the music they listen to creates a curiousity in their minds. These curiousities is sex and drugs (this is obliviously obvious) Another problem is, they're communication skills. They're neglecting how to properly type, write, and speak. To make it worst, there's children at the age of 10 years old who's vocabulary consist of every curse word known to man. And it's all disgusting.
I don't have problems with trend setters, as long as they're positive. They're not a trend of which causes idolizing, dropping out of school, curiousities of drugs and sex. Etc... I'm 23 years old, and to be honest, I don't care for name brand. I rather spend money on real needs and important things in my life. Than some stupid shirt with a brand on it. When the fact of the matter is... the shirt cost $3 to make, the person who made the shirt was only paid $0.30 to make it. And finally when they add the stupid brand name/logo, the shirt comes out being $20-$100. I'd rather buy some non-name brand clothes that fit properly, look good, and matches with the rest of my outfit. I'm a non-conformist. Not because I'm a follower, but because no one controls me, I make my own decisions consciously and subconsciously. Yes that is possible... just control your mind, don't let your mind control you. Naw mean? |

Those are fads, not trends. Ok I'm sorry, it's a fad in which will if not now become a trend. It started as a fad, the fad has lasted long enough to become a trend, in my point of view. The fad has lasted over a decade... I think it could be called a trend by now, since it's a type of normality, at least in the U.S. Look at what the kids are wearing. Then put it on nickolodeon (strong mispell) look at the cartoons and the shows.. look at how they're dressed. I say it's a trend... some say it's a fad. I agree it was/is a fad but now it's more of a trend. Just sayin. P.S. Example, the trend is wear skanky/baggy clothes the fad is adding details/patterns to the skanky/baggy clothes, and that type of design is popular so it becomes the fad of the decade/century etc... Understand? Or no? |

Understand? Or no? About 80% of this post isn't really necessary. You're entire post was just basically "I agree it was/is a fad but now it's more of a trend." P.S. Example, the trend is wear skanky/baggy clothes the fad is adding details/patterns to the skanky/baggy clothes, and that type of design is popular so it becomes the fad of the decade/century etc... Thats probably too confusing to some people so a better one would be... "The use of hot pink wall paint may be a fad, but the idea of using designer colors would be a trend." I say it's a trend... some say it's a fad. Yeah. |

Thats probably too confusing to some people so a better one would be... "The use of hot pink wall paint may be a fad, but the idea of using designer colors would be a trend." Yeah. Sadly your point of view isn't yours... instead you took it from a site. And more sadly the person who gave that opinion must be a child or someone with no understanding. Their example they used was horrible in comparison and in tryin to prove a point. Let me know when you get into college and take sociology. I'll be here (maybe) to hear your own opinions after you get a full understanding of fads and trends. trend (trěnd) Pronunciation Key n. The general direction in which something tends to move. A general tendency or inclination. See Synonyms at tendency. Current style; vogue: the latest trend in fashion. fad /fæd/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[fad] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun a temporary fashion, notion, manner of conduct, etc., esp. one followed enthusiastically by a group. sourced: dictionary.com It WAS a FAD but now it's more of a TREND than it is a FAD. Why? Because it (the fad) evolved into a trend. Plain and simple. |
