so i heard somewhere that Buddhism is not not really a religion but more of a lifestyle is that true?

I'm Buddhist and it is more like a lifestyle because there are no Gods in the religion merely a role model which is Buddha. Buddhism is basically the thought that life is suffering and to eliminate suffering, you eliminate desires and all of that. Buddhists don't really pray, they meditate.
