FIINNNIIIISSSSSHHHHHHEEEEEEEDDDDDDDD!
So totally LOVED it. I went to the midnight party and was within the first ten people to get the book SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. It took a HELLUVA lot longer to finish than I thought, and much of the book I read allowed to make sure I didn't skip over parts. I was, though, really really really saddened by all of the deaths. The death of Hedwig was a big blow, but even bigger was Dobby. Full-out sobbing at that point right there. Same goes with torturing of Hermoine. That was HUGE for me, as was the Ron screaming to help her. Still amazing glad that the three of them stuck it out - albeit Ron left for a little, but he came back! And of course, when he did it was magnificent. MAJOR kudos to Rowling from bringing EVERYONE back for the seventh book, I totally imagined the seventh movie and we just being utterly amazed - I love reunions like that. So I was wrong about Snape! And normally, I'd be dissatisfied when it doesn't go the way I thought it would :x but that was really good. I'd always known that he loved Lily - but I adored that entire Snape chapter. Really, really did. ALL HAIL THE GOOD SHIP. I screamed SCREAMED SCREAMED SCREAMED SCREAMED cries of joy when Ron and Hermoine kissed. And did a BIG victory dance. YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Expected more from the epilogue, though. ): Wonderful story of Dumbledore's past. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HARRY POTTTERRRRR!!!!! |

this was the first book that actually made me cry. i loved it. Dumbledore was my favorite character because he was so much like this brillant, protective grandfather. At the beginning of the story, everyone was badmouthing him enough that even Harry died. Even Dumbledore's own brother hated him. When Harry finally learned the truth and saw how human and vunerable and heartbroken Dumbledore was, I literally started crying. I imagined him seeing the stone and getting all hopeful with the prospect of fixing all his wrongs. =( Though we learn that Dumbledore was like Percy except worse, I still love him. I agree that the epilogue was too sappy. In one chapter, you get this heavy sense of mourning/victory from the worry and then BAM! they're all happy and sending their kids off to school. I know it's an epilogue and kinda is separate... but it came off really cliche and fanfictiony. I thought the Snape/Lily thing was really touching. And I thought young Snape was really adorable. Flapping his arms and looking ridiculiously batlike. And Lily and Petunia before Petunia started hating her. It becomes obvious much of Petunia's hate is her own jealously - writing Dumbledore to get into the school. And Dudley's thank you to Harry was realistic and simple. This book was ridiculiously funny! George... "Holy, get it? Holey?" and Ron was brillant throughout the entire book. =) Sad that Remus, Tonks, and Fred died. But I think, all of them died at extremely happy points. Remus and Tonks finally got together and had a child. Aside from his friendships with Sirius and Remus, I don't think anything else has made Remus as happy as his marriage to Tonks and his son, Ted. Fred was laughing and rejoicing over Weasleys' reunion with Percy. So even if they did die, they didn't die unhappily. |
