OK, I'm stuck in a pretty bad dilema here. I'm 17 years old, and I just went into college last fall. I have about 3 close friends that I keep in touch with, but I still feel like I'm missing a whole lot of socialism and interaction in my life.

I've tried joining the clubs at my college, but they all think I'll be to 'immature' to keep up with their conversations, or that I don't have 'enough' interest in the club to 'bother returning for subsequent meetings.'

I just want to get to know some people around town that I can talk to and have fun with. It's tricky to do in the town that has the number one (violent) crime rating in America. Any suggestions?

you know, i have noticed this problem as well. after high school things change. and it's hard to find friends. i just stay social and try meeting new people. I know eventually i will come across a good friend. but who knows when that will be. good friends are hard to come by so it takes time.
