OK, I'm stuck in a pretty bad dilema here. I'm 17 years old, and I just went into college last fall. I have about 3 close friends that I keep in touch with, but I still feel like I'm missing a whole lot of socialism and interaction in my life.

I've tried joining the clubs at my college, but they all think I'll be to 'immature' to keep up with their conversations, or that I don't have 'enough' interest in the club to 'bother returning for subsequent meetings.'

I just want to get to know some people around town that I can talk to and have fun with. It's tricky to do in the town that has the number one (violent) crime rating in America. Any suggestions?

well if your profile is true, then theres has been your problem all along.Go to the gym while getting toned you can meet new people possibly and help better your social life. Not to be mean but that is proably one of the major disadvantages 1.not even getting a chance to meet people2.looking like you dont want to.The gym can be fun start going find a buddy and hit it off.
