what sort of parent do you think you'll become? Options

pretty much what the title's about. what type/sort of parent do you think you'll become in the future if you aren't one now? even if you won't have children, imagine how you would probably raise your children.

ex:
do you think your methods will be completely different from your parents'? or will you raise your children similarly?

will you be a lenient parent or will you give them an amish-like lifestyle?

make them do a bunch of extra curriculars and whatnot, or let them run free!

what will your disciplinary style be..if you're going to have one?



dang that was long, guess i got carried away. well to answer my own question, i think i'm going to be raising my kids similarly to the way i was raised. i didn't turn out a disaster! well, i hope not? i'm going to be one of those parents promoting a social life with my kids...i don't want them to be social outcasts..

I think as much as a lot of teenagers say they don't want to parent like their parents do and they're going to be a "cool, lienent" parent, it's going to completly change. Once you're handed your baby for the first time you'll realize you'll do anything to keep them safe.

I think I will raise my kids similar to my parents. They're not overprotective, they let me have a lot of privacy, yet they care and I respect them a whole lot. I've never done anything really all that bad. I've never smoked or done drugs or had sex is what I mean. They've had me learn lessons from experience.

When my kids are young I'm going to see what they're interested in and get them involved in sports or whatever they seem to be interested in. I won't force them to do extracricculars as a teenager, that's their choice.

As punishment, I'm not so sure. I don't like the whole grounding method. I've never been grounded. I don't think it would help if I was. I think it depends what they did and then I would find a fit punishment. I would make sure the punishment made sense and make sure they understood the punishment and why it's being used. It would teach them a lesson, not just make them mad at me.

I'm sorry for rambling. I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately.
