Ok well I want a nice laptop that I can edit videos, photos and work on my website with. I hear mac has great programs for that so I'm thinking of an ibook. Anyone think otherwise.

have you seen those commericials with the pc and the mac? who always wins? mac. get a mac! Thats the worst word of advice I have ever herd in my life. The commercials are biaist, and half of them are exaggerated lies anyway. The word on the streets is that Macs are better at editing photos and videos, I own a iBook, and have to say as for editing photos, its a little over exaggerated. I have noticed no big difference between a Mac and a Windows PC on the photo editing side, I use Lightroom and Photoshop, which work on both Windows and Macintosh OSX. I have found that the LCD's on Mac laptops show black a little bit better, but that is about it. Stability wise, who ever tells you that Macs NEVER crash are Liars. They crash just as often as my Vista PC. The highlight on the Windows side now with Vista is that if you are editing a photo and for some reason Photoshop or the program you are using crashes, it save a copy of it so that when you restart the program you can restart. The new Mac OS that is in development has this I think, from what I read. Macs have iLife though, but the Adobe Suite for Windows and Mac is much better than all the iSofware crap you get. For categorizing, I have both Lightroom and Aperture, and I have to say that Lightroom, on both my iBook and my Vista machine own Aperture. It has so much more to offer. It runs kind of laggish on my Mac though, which almost any program does because I only have half a gig of ram on my iBook and paid almost $2,500 for it. When my PC has almost 4 gigs of ram and only cost me $3,000. If you are looking to spend a lot for nothing, get a Macintosh. If you are looking for a bang for your buck get a Lenovo Thinkpad or a Acer laptop. Thnkpads have been around since DOS, and they have perfected the laptop industry, they make the best notebooks on this earth. |

Thats the worst word of advice I have ever herd in my life. The commercials are biaist, and half of them are exaggerated lies anyway. Exaggerated? LOL Microshit Windows, SUCKS. That's a given. The worst operating system in the world. And the sad thing is, people are willing to spend $200+ for an operating system that doesn't have any security. Has a horrible embedded firewall. There is no such thing as privacy lol The operating systems ALWAYS have bugs, you would think they'd take their time to perfect it. Instead of pushing out weight trying to make a million dollars a day by bumpin up the price of a plain old operating with a service pack already included. Windows can't even protect you from hackers, viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, popups, malware, and other malicious attacks. And you're gonna claim that there's programs for all of that, right? They aren't even trustworthy. Malicious attacks can come in many different forms, and no products out there for the Windows can stop 100% of the attacks. And all it takes is one privacy exposing attack that will have your personal life out in the world, including your full name, address, phone numbers, IP address, Mac address, credit card number etc.. Everything in those commercials are NOT exaggerated, do you even know the difference other than how they're operated and their GUIs? Do you know the operating power of the two? Mac... by far is more worthy/valuable. Edit, we're speaking of operating systems here. Not machines. Overall Mac > Windows. You can even use Windows software on Mac, so it's all good :P And the only reason why I question your knowing of Mac and Windows is because everyone in the Computing engineering field knows that Mac has done 20 times better than the Windows. People want, security, privacy, reliability, durability, performance, and eyecandy GUI. And you're justifying your answer with the cost. I gotta find a site for you. Which proves that memory of a Mac is almost 2 times faster than the memory you'd use on a PC. That's all that matters for memory, speed and memory size. Heck I'm runnin Linux w/ Beryl and it runs faster/smoother and more powerful than Vista. Vista is horrible! And I only have 1GB of ram, I haven't even done my bi-yearly upgrade. I installed Vista, and I couldn't even change the theme because it would crash. I couldn't even drag the opened windows around because I would get a memory/cpu spike and start to get VERY laggy. Linux + Beryl mutilates Vista. And Microsoft stole those ideas, they're not even original for God sakes. Vista Aero = lame. |

Linux + Beryl mutilates Vista. And Microsoft stole those ideas, they're not even original for God sakes. Vista Aero = lame. Windows cant protect against hackers, I will give you my IP. Can't protect against Virus's, I have been running Windows since the launch of Winodws 95 and have never ran one Anti Virus or Spy Ware protection on my os's, and I am one that loves music if you know what I mean. Really, everything in those commercials are not exaggerated? How about the one with updates? You do realize that when you preorder a PC such as a Dell, the OS is installed the day it is shipped, and updates are ran off a in house server. So, the computer is ready to go once it hits your doorstep. The one about installed software that you didn't order, Microsoft doesn't do that, Dell, Gateway and or manufactures of the PC do that, yet they fail to mention that. The bloated one, Microsoft does not install ANY software that is a trial and or has to be purchase on the side. The manufacture does that, but once again they fail to mention that. I also completely LOVE the one about the surgery, it basically says that mac does not innovate. So what if you have to upgrade or get a new pc, don't like it, dont buy the damn OS. You could just buy a MAC and be stuck with the same shit, just a new look with every release. U also love the fact that you don't buy a whole new OS when they create say Mac OSX Tiger, its just a few updates. Like a service pack, that you have to pay for. Also, the security one, that can be turned off. The Virus one, I am living proof that its not true, I have no ran a AV on this PC... Ever, nor my laptop, nor my old desktop. Actually, I don't think I have ever ran one since Windows 95 when we had a Dell. There ARE viruses out for Macintosh, they just dont go around as fast, because less than 10% of the entire computer world uses a Macintosh OS. As for money, Microsoft could live without it. They have billions in the bank, and all their employees could retire with over a million dollars per person with the amount of money they have in the bank. Also, if we are going to argue the GUI, Apple didn't invent it, I thought you could use that bit of information. So its as if Apple is bitching about something Microsoft stole, but yet Apple stole it to begin with? What is amazing, is you are arguing security, and the United States government (military records and medical records), and banking system runs NOTHING BUT WINDOWS SERVERS AND DESKTOPS. Funny how they have never once had a leak of medical and or military records, or banking information. So I guess its not too bad. As I stated above, I will GIVE you my IP so you can attempt to hack my system since its just so possible. The problem is, you have to get past the router first. Which is why large companies don't WORRY about security when it comes to Windows. Cisco can stop a threat before it enters the building. If it is in the network, guess what.... Vista Business edition stops it before it leaves the nic card. Not Norton or McAfee, VISTA does. I also find it hilarious and a ALL TIME LOW, that Apple would design their OS so that Windows, their competition can run on it. Microsoft has nothing to worry about, with 90% of the market, Mac OS's and Linux will take a while to take over the market. They have been sharing 10% of the market for a while, and will be for quite some time. Also, maybe you should upgrade, a gig of ram is low now a days. Most low end PCs come with a gig of ram. |
